Selective Breeding

Every animal in the program traces to foundation bulls hand-selected from Alberta and British Columbia. We have closed herd books going back to 2011. No outside genetics enter without a 90-day quarantine and full panel bloodwork. The lineage is documented, the phenotype is consistent, and the records are open for inspection.

Roosevelt Elk Program

Our Roosevelt elk program traces to six foundation bulls selected from British Columbia and Alberta between 2010 and 2013. Every bull in the current crop carries at least 75% of that original genetics. We score every animal at 5.5 years for honest data.

Ranch Operator
"Bought three Roosevelt bulls from Herd in 2023. First rut season, two of the three threw calves that already look like 350-class animals at six months. The genetics are exactly what the paperwork says they are."

"We ran a whitetail restoration program across 14,000 acres in central Texas. Herd supplied 22 does and 4 bucks. The health documentation was flawless — TPWD approved the shipment on the first review. Two years in, trail cameras are showing 160-class genetics moving through the program area."

Hobby Farmer
"I drove past a cervid auction in 2021 and bought two whitetail does on impulse. That impulse cost me a lot of money in fencing and learning. Herd's consultation call saved me from three more expensive mistakes. Now I have eight animals, a proper management plan, and a 200-class buck I named Gerald."

Ranch Operator
"The semen bank program is what sold me. I can pull genetics from a bull that scored 448 SCI without having to buy or house the animal. For a 600-acre operation, that's the difference between a breeding program and a wish list."

"Twenty-six head shipped to our restoration program in New Mexico. Not a single animal lost in transit. The CWD-negative documentation made our state wildlife agency sign-off seamless. Will be ordering again for Phase 2."
